The Banana Hair Mask

Bananas are rich in potassium that strengthens hair, minimizes breakage by restoring your hair’s natural elasticity, and facilitates repair of damaged hair. Bananas also moisturize your hair as they contain natural oils and about 75% water. Strong, moisturized hair also is less prone to frizzing and tangling. In addition, the fruit is packed with vitamin A, B6, C and E, as well as zinc and iron.

Here is a banana hair mask recipe:

This recipe is quite good especially  when you do not have money to buy a deep conditioning treatment or you are on a fixed budget.
The treatment reduces the dryness of the hair, it makes the damaged hair soft and smooth.

Ingredients:

  • Banana – 1,2,3,4,… depending on how dense your hair is (fullness of hair)
  • Coconut milk – 3 tbsp
  • Oils of your choice
  • Honey

How to make

Take the banana and mash it to form a paste, make sure the mashed mixture doesn’t contains any lumps.
Now add three -6 table spoons of coconut milk and any of your favourite oils, e.g coconut oil, olive oil, almond oil, etc.

Mix all the ingredients well in a blender and blend till smooth.

Apply on your freshly washed hair thoroughly. Leave the mixture for 20 to 30 minutes while wearing a shower cap; You can also use a steamer if you have one and then rinse off with cool water. Follow up with your usual moisturizing and sealing process.

P.S - be sure to use a blender and make sure it blends very well so as not to have chunks of banana on your hair. The only downside of this is that your hair will have tiny white grains of banana afterwards, but if you would still wanna give this a go, it’s a great treatment.

I will be sharing with you a lengthy post with pictures on how I applied this mix on my natural hair during my wash day.

Have you ever tried banana mask on your hair?

Will you consider trying this treatment?

Kindly drop you comments and questions below. Thank you.

Until my next post, ciao!
