Herbal Infusions

Hello Curlies! Happy Easter to you all! I hope y'all are taking good care of your manes. I'm doing a bit of research on herbal infusions and their benefits on natural hair. I'll be doing an article on that as soon as my research is completed and y'all can be rest assured that I'll post pictures on how I incorporated them into my own hair care regime. Herbal infusions can be water, oil or vinegar based and can be used for rinse-outs, pre-poos and daily spray. I'll be focusing on the following herbs and some of them, if not all are available in the big named supermarkets. They are: Lavender, Rosemary, Basil, Sage, Thyme, Horsetail, Nettle, Lemongrass, Chamomile, Peppermint, Amla, Burdock Root, Hibiscus, Parlsey, Peppermint, e.t.c. Keep on refreshing my blog and always remember to stay hydrated! Until my next post, ciao! :)

Protective Styling: Crochet Braids.

Image
Hello Naturalistas! How are we all doing today? I finally got my crochet braids done during the weekend! I'm happy that my hair can rest for another month or more before I take braids out. It took an hour, forty minutes to attach the pre-packed braids and I also like the fact that they are weightless! The icing on the cake is that I get to go makeup free for as long as I have them on! Yayyyyyy!! Hairstylist: the amazing Anthonia (she's available on request and very affordable too!) #lovemyhair #plussizenaturalista #alltimeslayer #plussizemodel #crochetbraids Do you like? Yay or nay? Your questions, comments and suggestions are welcome. Thank you. Until my next post, ciao! :-)

Another Wash Day: Coconut Milk Pre-poo and Banana Hair Mask Treatment

Image
Hello Curlies! As promised, I used coconut milk as my pre-poo treatment during my wash day last night and my hair is truly grateful! I got back home about 7:00pm, tired and worn out due to the no fuel/traffic situation in Lagos coupled with the absence of electricity(you can imagine the feeling). But as they say "love makes one go the extra mile", I wasted no time in starting the pre-poo process. Ingredients for the coconut milk : Two balls of coconuts Bottled water Process :  I extracted the dry meat of the coconut, cut them into tiny bits and blended with some water. I allowed to sit for an hour so the milk will be fully separated from the water, and viola! Before applying the milk on my hair, I mixed some olive oil in it to help lock in moisture.  I was going to wash the coconut milk off by midnight and apply my banana hair mask, but the tiredness took hold of me and I drifted off to lala land! Thankfully, I woke up rather early and finis

The Banana Hair Mask

Bananas are rich in potassium that strengthens hair, minimizes breakage by restoring your hair’s natural elasticity, and facilitates repair of damaged hair. Bananas also moisturize your hair as they contain natural oils and about 75% water. Strong, moisturized hair also is less prone to frizzing and tangling. In addition, the fruit is packed with vitamin A, B6, C and E, as well as zinc and iron. Here is a banana hair mask recipe: This recipe is quite good especially  when you do not have money to buy a deep conditioning treatment or you are on a fixed budget. The treatment reduces the dryness of the hair, it makes the damaged hair soft and smooth. Ingredients: Banana – 1,2,3,4,… depending on how dense your hair is (fullness of hair) Coconut milk – 3 tbsp Oils of your choice Honey How to make Take the banana and mash it to form a paste, make sure the mashed mixture doesn’t contains any lumps. Another 365 days - it's my birthday today!

Today is 5th, March, 2016 and I am happy to be alive, and well. Do you know why? It's my birthday!!! Y'all can't begin to imagine how interesting the journey thus far has been. A lot happened along the way both good and bad, but here I am thankful and grateful to God for everything. Between last year's birthday and today's, I moved houses; Fell in love, but got my heart shattered; Lost my dear Mum; Lost four dress sizes; Sang in a concert; Planned and executed several events; Wrote a professional exam; Ran and completed a full marathon with honors, and the list goes on and on! For all these and more, I give thanks because "I know that all things work together for good to them that love God and are called according to His purpose." Moreover, I am fully persuaded that He's working everything out according to the counsel of His will. God is faithful! It hasn't been easy, but I have God on my side and like the psalmist, David, I am going to cap i
